It’s hard to say, is the player using cheats that make them invisible to AI or is that just CIGs busted AI that doesn’t react to players?
The game is in development, any form of “hacking” is just stress testing.
lol, about time this galactic shit pile provided us some laughs.
I’m really looking forward to whatever ham fisted way CIG tries to address this
CIG: To address problems with item duplication we now only allow a single instance of any item across all servers
CIG: Players teleporting between points of interest has been resolved, we have removed all points of interest in the game
It’d be awesome to have someone stir the pot by suggesting that Derek was behind all these exploits, but at this point I don’t know if any of them remember the days of the goon menace. Their criticism seems to largely be calling from inside the house these days.
To remember goons exist would be to remember goons have been calling this a sham for 15 years
commandos are losing their minds over teleporting and instakill hacks. Bless their hearts. If only it were just that. No, friends, that would suggest there’s a single issue or two CIG might one day fix. The truth is much more entertaining.
These poor souls haven’t even made it to their ships yet. If they did, they’d be fighting godmode hackers with infinite ammo, shields that never drop, and guns that ignore overheating, recoil, or spread. Enemy fighters dart around like they’re in a Saturday morning cartoon. Teleporting, clipping, phasing. Basically, they’d be dominated by the likes of Goon Swarm.
And it’s not just one guy with a script. It’s been lovingly packaged into cheat bundles that are somehow more stable than the game itself. A pitfall of using an aging engine, all the exploits have been found and nicely packaged for the consumer. Want to be a ghost? Fire from across the system? Carry a moon in your backpack while bunnyhopping across Lorville? There’s a feature for that.
This isn’t a game anymore. It’s an unsecured sandbox where the only people getting their money’s worth are the cheaters.
So while reddit is still wringing their hands over aim hacks, the real circus hasn’t even started.
Dupes, dopes, delusions, and denial.
I dont understand how the fuck is this possible on a 2025 game.
holes have been left in on purpose for people with weird custom setups (there was supposed to be an API for this but of course there isn’t yet) and VR users (which surprise surprise, isn’t set up properly yet either).
I don’t see how all of these things are doable client-side, the game server shouldn’t be allowing players to just teleport wherever.
Wait, they’re doing this with Cheat Engine? The same thing I use to game-genie my way through single player games?
That’s a real bad look, wow.
The Gateway: Anti-Cheat Bypass
The entry point for all the client-side hacks mentioned is a laughably simple, publicly documented bypass for Anti-Cheat. By adding a single line to the Windows hosts file, you can block Anti-Cheat from communicating with its authentication servers. The game launcher is configured for a “soft fail,” meaning it launches the game anyway, but with Anti-Cheat completely disabled.
ESP / Wallhacks: These cheats display player names, health, distance, and outlines through solid objects. The new information shows this extends to ships, NPCs, turrets, cargo, and even individual lootable items and containers from extreme distances. This is only possible because the server is sending entity data to the client for objects that are not in the player’s line of sight. The cheat simply renders this data.
Aimbots: We’re seeing everything from subtle aim assist to blatant snap-to-target aimbots for both FPS (head/chest lock) and ship combat. The problem is compounded by the game’s own powerful ESP feature, which can make it difficult to distinguish between a legitimate tool and a third-party cheat.
Physics & State Manipulation (The God-Tier Hacks): This is where the server’s trust in the client is most severely abused. The >! [REDACTED] suite includes a terrifying array of features that should be impossible:
Teleportation: The ability to teleport items and loot containers directly to your position from thousands of meters away for remote looting. Also includes player teleportation to any location on the map and, most critically, a “One Position Kill” (OPK) function that teleports all hostile targets to the cheater’s crosshairs for instant death.
No-Clip: The ability to fly or walk through solid objects, with adjustable speed for both player and ship.
Inventory & Weapon Hacks: Reports of gear being stolen directly from living players are confirmed by these cheat features. They also include unlimited backpack weight, unlimited ammo, no recoil, and no spread.
God Mode / Instant Kill: The cheat menu shows options like “Super Threat (Instant)” and reports of entire squads dying simultaneously confirm that clients can send malicious packets telling the server that other players are dead.
I think this is now CIG’s biggest test. If these problems aren’t resolved quickly, the entire project will fail. I hope for appropriate prioritization and a quick solution in line with OUR dream.
I applaud the people doing this, and hope they keep it up until CIG does something to fix the root causes
It’s kind of abysmal, seeing how many vulnerabilities exist in the game
Bahahaha so glad I sold my account
Honestly dont know what to discuss here.
Been calling out complete client authorative bullshit for years and always said SC is just lucky no-one cares.
Have a good one guys, and keep buying jpegs.
I just can’t believe we’ve been watching this shit show unfold for years now, and they are still putting out bangers like this.
I really shouldn’t be but I’m actually shocked that the SC client is so trusting that you can just send packets telling the server other players are dead. Or that they spent forever trying to optimizing things and theyre still sending clients info for loot containers a kilometer away that they can’t see.
Why would they, server meshing will fix this.
Um server meshing Ver. 2.0. Yeah, that will fix everything. Don’t worry about.
some day i hope to wake up at 3am to an infomercial from a law office asking if me or a loved one has been harmed by server meshing
The Long-Term Solution: CIG must commit to a full “Zero-Trust Client” architecture. The server must be the sole authority on game state. Player position, health, inventory, and hit registration must be calculated and validated server-side. The client cannot be trusted. This is a massive engineering lift, but it is the only permanent fix for the client-side hacks detailed in Section 2.
Proactive Detection: Server-side analytics should be implemented to flag accounts with statistically impossible metrics (e.g., accuracy, headshot rates, aUEC-per-hour) to identify cheaters and RMT operations that slip through other defenses .
The integrity of the Persistent Universe depends on addressing these foundational issues, not just the symptoms. CIG needs to act decisively.
😂😂🤣 if you seriously think CIG is going to roll out a zero-trust client at this point, I’ve got a Drake Cutter to sell you. Homie, nobody can throw a grenade without alerting half the server and crashing a few clients along the way. You really think they’re going to rewrite the entire netcode? AGAIN!? c’mon
i honestly just feel bad for anyone playing sc at this point. pure “this is fine” material, devoid any any possible hope

I prefer my civil meat a bit more rare. Send it back, waiter.
I avoid entering the game because I don’t feel safe. Because the problem here is not the game mode and the armors they steal from you, the problem is if they start taking things that are connected to your account, such as ships bought with real money. You think it’s impossible, eh, GTA V Online also experienced that, crazy people were losing their accounts, I had 4 gta accounts, and then they took away 2. I only have one account here. Concierge, as a High Admiral, I’m very scared for my money invested in this game.
Citizens of Stanton, Pyro and beyond,
We’ve seen the truth. The cheats, the exploits, the manipulation — not just by individuals, but by networks, bots, and businesses profiting from our universe.
The system is bleeding. But this isn’t the time to fold. This is the time to rise.
We may not have admin tools.
We may not have dev powers.
But we have numbers. We have eyes. We have willpower.
And we have names.
This is the mission:
Form squads. Patrol servers. Protect the experience.
Track and report every confirmed cheater you see.
Note their names, orgs, behavior, locations — anything that helps.
Send it all to CIG — clean, organized, undeniable.
Share, repost, spread the fire. Wake up the community.
This could be the moment history remembers —
Not the day the game was broken,
but the day the players fought back.
Let’s turn this scandal into a movement.
Let the cheaters know: we see you.
Let CIG know: we care.
Let the world know: this community is not done.
No more silence.
No more fear.
This is our ‘verse. And we’re taking it back.
Wow this made me cringe my entire skeleton out of my body. Does anyone have any silver liquid to replace it?
A good friend of mine wanted some other people to play with so I begrudgingly spent as little money as possible on this.
I played around 10 hours now and I honestly couldn’t believe it. You can’t disappoint players if you never give them anything. Constant bugs, having to run around for minutes to get anything done. Flightmodel basically nonexistant. Gunplay at least 20 years out of date.
When the game works it’s ????, thank god it doesn’t work 50% of the time.
All these moments lost like money spent on JPEGs
I was extremely excited to play the 4.2.1, participate in the event with friends… Totally forgot that CIG was kind of a joke.
I have no clues if this is a temporary error, if this is something that require a ticket, … I just know that I am done. I have been a backer since day one, spent over 30k USD in this dream that Chris Roberts sold us (you can judge me on that), funded community events in Europe to bring people together, … I even met him, got signed stuff from the design team, a cool CD from Pedro, …
But I am kinda done now. I really just can’t back this thing anymore.
what was achieved is quite insane: the planetary tech, the (beginning of) server meshing, the lazy loading methods to avoid loading screens, … This is all amazing.
I have no clues exactly what is at cause, either the marketing-led development roadmap, the reported micromanagement, the huge turnover that potentially f*cked the codebase, … but something is clearly rotten. From the bugs that exist for years, the clear lack of Q&A in between deployments or even the poor design of events
This is Pay to Win in its purest form. Just because one dude dropped 2k on a ship he can grief a lot of players and there is nothing we can do exept also droping 2k to fight him
They’re all distilled down to wanting the biggest baddest ship but no one else can have that because then its no fun anymore
and if someone steps on their very specific version of fun they will demand that person is arrested, cancelled, banned forever.
“This was supposed to be MY power fantasy
“
Those pipelines are primed, any day now we will see a huge jump in jpeg factory output
Everyone’s always asking what will star citizen do next
Why don’t they try asking what will star citizen do… first
Where to begin?
– ladder tech
– river tech
– barista tech
– elevator tech (beta)
It might seem like nothing is happening, but it is.
It’s not vaporware. It’s premium vaporware.
